The client wanted a sharp, blunt bob with a clean perimeter. Midway through, I started point cutting the ends to soften what felt like a stiff baseline. By the time the hair dried, the weight line had collapsed into an uneven fringe of texture that read as damage rather than design.

Point cutting is a diffusion tool. On a precision bob, the perimeter exists as a load-bearing element. Introducing irregular notches into that line redistributes weight unpredictably, especially on fine to medium hair that lacks the density to absorb the variation.
